Answers for real projects
What does Arkteka do?
Arkteka turns a plain-language description of a renovation into permit-ready architectural documents. You describe your project in everyday words, and Arkteka generates floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details for the US residential market.
Do I need any design or drafting experience?
No. You describe the project the way you would explain it to a builder, and Arkteka handles the drafting. Everything it produces stays editable, so you can adjust rooms, dimensions and finishes without touching CAD.
Are the plans really permit-ready?
Plans are generated to the drawing standards US residential permit offices expect — floor plans, elevations, sections and construction details. Local requirements vary, so a final review and stamp by a licensed professional may still be required in your jurisdiction.
How accurate and reliable are AI-generated architectural plans?
Every drawing comes from a structured model rather than a freehand sketch, so dimensions, wall assemblies and annotations stay consistent across the whole set. We still recommend reviewing the output with your contractor before submission, the same way you would with any drafting service.
Does Arkteka replace a licensed architect?
No. Arkteka does the drafting and documentation work. For projects that need a stamp, structural sign-off or code interpretation you still bring in a licensed architect or engineer — and you hand them a far more complete starting point.
How is this different from hiring an architect?
An architect starts from a blank page and bills for the hours. Arkteka starts from your description and returns a complete document set in a fraction of the time for a fixed subscription price. You keep the architect for judgement calls, not for drafting.
What kinds of projects can it handle?
Renovations, additions, ADUs, interior reconfigurations and new single-family homes. It is built for the US residential market rather than large commercial or industrial work.
Which areas do you serve?
Arkteka is built around US residential drawing standards and is available across the United States. Support for additional markets is on the roadmap.
How much does it cost?
Plans start at $39 per month on Essential and scale with the number of active projects and the depth of documentation you need. The full breakdown is on the pricing page.
Does the cost include construction, or just the plans?
Just the plans and documentation. Arkteka produces the drawing set you take to a contractor or a permit office. Construction itself is quoted separately by your builder.
How long does it take to get a permit with Arkteka’s plans?
Arkteka produces the document set in hours rather than weeks. Permit review time depends on your local authority and typically runs from a few days to several weeks.
When can I use it?
